    I know I'm late to the party but I think it really pays to demo the shot (kick serve in this case) at the start of your video. I'm new to your channel so I'm left to guess whether your video is going to be right for me. I end up skipping forwards looking for a full demo, preferably with the shot repeated, showing you and the ball after the bounce. It's also worth avoiding the camera man's shadow creeping around in the frame ;)

    Totally disagree. It'll spin every time. Cradle it in your palm and fingers and float it up like you're setting a bird free. This way is a joke. Rarely that any pro player uses this method.

    Great video, thnx for the instructions! You can bring the ball over the net with a closed blade through the updirection of the racket movement (just as you can volley downwards with an open blade by moving the racket downwards). Be also aware that hitting the ball too late also hinders your dominant eye to keep track of the ball (see: Mouratoglou videos). This really explains a lot of missers. But in your video instructions you correctly hit every ball in front of the body so that way that vision problem will not occur.

    I know it sounds strange, but this - keeping your head still throughout the shot - works like MAGIC! Once you get the hang of it, you start striking the ball much, much cleaner and amazing things start happening! Power, spin, feel, confidence...the feeling is INCREDIBLE! Even stranger, though: once you discover this, you will want to "go back to sleep", i.e., you will want to STOP watching the ball correctly and _go back to how you were (mis)hitting before!_ Weird, hun? The pull of curiosity, the urge to lift your head and see what the ball is doing, is IRRESISTIBLE!!! Why on Earth, when you've discovered the Holy Grail of Tennis, would you want to essentially BLIND yourself again and go back to "living in darkness", i.e. back to your subpar way of doing things? Fear of success? Of winning? Because you hate yourself, because you don't deserve it? It's like lighting up again after 10 years of not smoking - it just doesn't make any sense! Anybody? P.S.- Your use of a target is intriguing. I guess it INCREASES the pull of the ball on your attention, yes? Because your in a, albeit minor, competitive situation, it makes you even more curious about what that little sphere is doing, RIGHT NOW. I will give it a try, anything that can help me find that "state of grace" again is worth a try. I want that glorious feeling again, it's no wonder people LOVE tennis! Thanks again - JD, Montréal

    Great Job, Excellent camera resolution. Also, Do you think we shall be generating all serve spins (angles of impact) by using the same toss, Commentators mention that Pete Sampras was able to hit all spots in the box by using the same toss, and that is why it has been considered one of the best serves in history... What is your opinion on keeping the same toss for all spins?

    • @JAYC.

  • @studfinderball
    @studfinderball Рік тому

    These guys almost got it right. Rec doubles players should use the hybrid for FIRST and SECOND serves. Just move it around the box. Dirty secret: rec players are no better at the flat serve than the kick. Plus, the flat serve at rec player speeds can easily be blocked back, often for a short angled winner or a deep high lob over the net man. Not hatin', just sayin'. 35 years as a rec player.

    • @JordanCoons
      @JordanCoons Рік тому

      I don’t think you should generalize all rec players like that. Rec players go from beginner to 5.5 level. There are many players that hit great flat and kicks.

    • @studfinderball
      @studfinderball Рік тому

      @@JordanCoons I am being very generous. Two thirds of USTA players are 3.5 and below, and those are the serious players. Many more pastime players aren't in the stats, and they're all 3.0 and below hackers. My advice is to the tennis crowd. The 4.5 to 5.5 players are forced to play in their own little clics. Good luck to them. They certainly don't need my advice or the advice in this video.

    I'm open to trying this. I should have someone record my volleys to see how much takeback I really have though my intention has been to minimize it. I also use a thicker frame (Volkl V1) so a big swing is going to make it tricky to keep the ball in the court.
